Charger Steve's REAL
"Smokey and the Bandit" T/A

This 1980 Trans Am is no replica. After the production of the
1977 Hit "Smokey and the Bandit" Starring Burt Reynolds and
Sally Fields the Trans Ams were all destroyed with the
exception of one that was gifted to Burt after filming by
Hal Needham (Director of the film and Hollywood Stuntman
Icon). A couple years later production on the follow up
"Smokey and The Bandit II" began production starring the
same original cast. This time 1980 versions of the Bandit
were used and the exact number is still a mystery but rumors

estimate between 12 and 20 cars.

The car's suspension was upgraded and the cars were keyed
alike so one key started all the cars to make things easy for
the crew. Steve's car has a special interest to Bandit fans as
it was repainted by Hal after production and used as the pace
car in the 1980 Daytona 500. The car was then gifted by Hal
to a friend by the name of Deborah Canady and she held onto the car
through most of the 90's.

While nobody ever had any idea how rare a commodity these
old Hollywood muscle cars would become it's really hard to
put a value on this Bandit as its Hollywood career was pre
“General Lee” days where documenting these cars really
became crucial to its pedigree. So while there is not nearly
as much documentation on the REAL Bandit cars as the
Lee's, we do know that they are far rarer than the Generals

as there have been many more Chargers used over the
decades by Warner Brothers than there were ever REAL Bandits.
Truly Rare Hollywood Icon!
Wow!
